What to know
- The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office opened a new $12.5 million Criminal Operations Building aimed at modernizing operations and expanding space for deputies, investigators and crime scene personnel.
- The 29,500-square-foot facility includes a larger evidence storage area and a modern crime lab to support growing investigative demands.
- The building also provides public-facing services, including areas where residents can file reports, pay fines and handle other business with the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Julian Whittington unveiled Friday what his office described as "a major investment in public safety and the future of law enforcement in Bossier Parish."
The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Operations Building opened on Burt Boulevard in Benton, just east of the Bossier Parish Courthouse.
The facility includes space for patrol deputies, investigators and crime scene personnel. Increasing the agency's evidence storage capacity and adding a modern crime lab were also priorities.
"For years, our Criminal Division has operated in facilities that no longer met the growing demands of modern law enforcement," Whittington said. "Today, we open a building that positions us for the future and strengthens our ability to serve this community with excellence."
The renovation and addition cost $12.5 million for the 29,500-square-foot building. It houses 3,836 square feet of evidence storage.
Members of the public can access the building to pay fines and property taxes, make reports and more.
