ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS for Police Officer include, but are not limited to: Comprehending radio transmissions being received over multiple law enforcement radio channels; communicating information effectively; dealing with high-pressure and potentially dangerous situations; effecting arrests, effectively communicating with people of all ages from diverse economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, mediating disputes, advising of rights and legal processes and testifying in judicial setting; performing patrol functions, including first-aid/CPR, directing traffic, controlling crowds, performing searches; preparing investigative reports, summonses, warrants and other required forms; loading, unloading, aiming and firing handguns, rifles and shotguns from a variety of positions at levels of proficiency and safety prescribed by qualification standards.
