Five (5) years of police/ security dispatching and/or receptionist experience is preferred.
Practical working knowledge of dispatch practices is preferred.
Pre-certification in telecommunications is desired.
Must be able to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
Must be able to pass a TCLEOSE approved Basic Telecommunication Certification course within the six (6) month probationary period.
Must be tactful in handling and directing inquiries while maintaining composure in trying situations.
Must be able to read and comprehend information requested on forms and reports.
Must be able to function effectively under stress with minimum supervision.
This position is considered an essential employee of the Port of Houston Authority; and as such, his/her duties are of such a nature as to require the employee to report to work or remain at the work site to continue Port operations during an emergency situation. (Failure to report or remain at work when an emergency is declared is grounds for disciplinary action up to and including termination.)
