Our agency is the Fountain Police Department in Fountain, Colorado. We are located 4 miles south of Colorado Springs, which has the largest population in El Paso County. The population for El Paso County is approximately 500,000.The City of Fountain has a population of 22,500 which is increasing by 6.75% a year. Neighboring Fort Carson's expansion is expected to explode our population, with 12,000 new troops expected in the area by 2008.Add in 6,000 spouses and 12,000 children for the military families. Our City is expecting an influx of 37,000 to 44,000 more government employees and their families by 2010.This rapid growth will have a huge impact on our already growing community.
