Pennsylvania Deputy Shot, Killed

Berks County Deputy Kyle Pagerly was fatally shot while trying to serve a warrant Wednesday night.

BERKS COUNTY, Pa. --

A shootout in Berks County Wednesday night killed two people, including a sheriff's deputy.

Deputy Kyle Pagerly was shot while trying to serve a warrant in Albany Township, according to state police.

Pagerly was part of a task force looking for Matthew Connor. The 25-year-old ran into the woods. When police found him, Connor was armed with an AK-47 and opened fire, according to state police. He was killed in the exchange.

Pagerly was shot in the head and flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to state police. He was an Iraq War veteran.
