CHEROKEE COUNTY, S.C. --

A Cherokee County deputy is no longer with the department and is facing criminal charges after being accused of having sex with an informant.

According to an arrest warrant, sometime in December 2008 or January 2009, Deputy Albert Bradley Phillips, 41, of Gaffney, engaged in a sexual act with a confidential informant who has a pending charge in Cherokee County.

Phillips is charged with public official misconduct in office. He was arrested Tuesday and was being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center.

The arrest followed an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division at the request of the Sheriff’s Office.
