Investigators determined that Allen Bradley Sconyers, 35, intentionally and regularly used an electric stun gun device on his 8 and 11 year-old children.

April 26--AVON PARK -- An Avon Park man remained in Highlands County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond Thursday after Highlands County Sheriff's investigators accused him of abusing his children with a stun gun.

Allen Bradley Sconyers, 35, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse -- cruelty toward a child by torture to punish or cage a child.

Investigators determined that Sconyers intentionally used an electric stun gun device on his 8 and 11 year old children, starting in December and ending in April, the arrest report stated.

"...Multiple eyewitnesses have observed Allen Sconyers use the stun gun device upon the children," the arrest report stated, and provided sworn statements that "the children appeared to be in pain and distress when the device was used on then."

Both children told investigators that the device, which they referred to as a "Taser", caused them intense pain when it was used on them, the report stated.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the worst pain, they described the pain as an 8, the report stated.

When asked to describe what the stun gun felt like, one of the children said it felt like getting staples into the hand.

"I observed and collected pictures of scars on (a male victim who) said were from the stun gun device," investigator Lars Kirkegard reported.

The witnesses indicated the "Tasings" were used for as little as (the victim) using school clothes to play or leaving a light on, and (the victim) taking longer than five minutes to eat dinner, the report stated.

One child victim said Sconyers would ask why the light was left on and if Sconyers did not like the excuse, she would get "Tased," the report stated.

Witnesses also reported that if either child flinched or moved while the stun gun was applied, it would be used again, the report stated.

There was no mention of the presence of a mother in the report.

The stun gun is "a device specifically designed to cause pain in full-grown adult attackers," the report stated.
