A 23-year-old Surete du Quebec, Canada, police officer was killed in a cruiser crash while responding to a domestic disturbance Wednesday.
According to local television station CTV News Montreal, Constable Katia Hadouchi went off the road and hit two trees traveling to pickup her partner to respond to the emergency call. The cruiser was totaled and a wrecker operator summoned to pick up the wreckage said he had never seen such destruction in 50 years of towing. The engine of the cruiser was ripped from the vehicle and thrown about 75 feet, according to the television station.
Hadouchi was removed from the vehicle and taken to a hospital where doctors worked for hours to save her life without success.
According to the Canada Officer Down Memorial Page, had served with the Surete du Quebec for the past two years.
There were no other vehicles involved with the crash and its cause remains under investigation, according to the television station.
