La. Constable Killed in On-Duty Crash

Allen Parish Constable John D. Manuel died after his cruiser left the road and hit two trees on Dec. 5.

An Allen Parish constable was killed in an on-duty crash on Dec. 5.

Constable John D. Manuel, 78, was pronounced dead at the scene after his 2004 Crown Victoria cruiser ran off of U.S. Highway 165 before hitting two trees around 10 a.m., according to The Town Talk.

Reports state that Manuel was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The crash is currently under investigation.

He served as Ward 1 Constable with the Allen Parish Constable's Office since October 2002 and was a lifelong resident of the small town.

Manuel is survived by his wife, Jenny, their three children, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held over the weekend.
