Oregon's fifth-largest city is suddenly a national media darling.
Hillsboro's publicly-financed video to help recruit a new police chief, first reported by The Oregonian, continues to circulate through the Internet and other news outlets.
Following a post on the social news and gossip website Gawker last week, CNN.com picked up the story, AOL.com ran a video feature highlighting the 6:12 minute feature and a popular police and law enforcement news site gave Hillsboro a shout-out.
YouTube views on the original video top 67,000, and other users on the social media site have since picked up and shared the video.
The hits keep coming, according to Public Affairs Manager Patrick Preston.
City Manager Michael Brown and Police Department Spokesman Lt. Mike Rouches are scheduled to appear on CNN Thursday morning at 7 a.m.

BBC Radio is jumping into the mix, too, according to Preston.
"What we're hearing directly is overwhelmingly positive," Preston said of feedback on the $9,239 video, produced by Beaverton's Resonance Productions.
"We're hearing a lot from police folks," he added.
Preston said the city received feedback from about a dozen people through the city's website in addition to interaction on social media.
In an email, Preston said the video is providing a huge return on the city's investment because of the media attention. "That attention and free publicity only helps us to attract the best candidates in our nationwide search," Preston said.
