A California corrections officer was stabbed by an inmate and three others were injured Tuesday.
Officials say Corcoran State Prison inmate Dan Felix used a handmade weapon to stab the corrections officer in the neck, head and shoulder several times after using a handmade key to break free from his handcuffs around 3:20 p.m., according to The Fresno Bee.
Two other officers sustained injuries to their wrists, backs and knees while trying to intervene and a third was kicked by inmate Steven Rivera.
The stabbed officer was flown to a hospital and was reported in good condition. The other three officers were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
Felix is serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole for attempted murder and Rivera is serving life without parole for two counts of first-degree murder.
