Dashcam video released by Michigan State Police shows a trooper use a PIT maneuver to stop a stolen vehicle.
The video shows the trooper used a bumping tactic known as a precision immobilization technique, or PIT maneuver, to stop the vehicle during a pursuit shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 3, according to MLive.com.
Police responded to a report of suspects attempting to break into a vehicle in the 2800 block of Ontario Court in Howell Township in Livingston County when the chase ensued. A trooper spotted a vehicle matching the description leaving the area and attempted to pull it over, but the driver would not stop.
Police said the trooper pursued the vehicle for about two miles when the suspect vehicle attempted to enter I-96 from Pinckney Road. That's when the trooper struck the vehicle on its right rear side, causing it to go off the road and rollover down into a ditch.
One of the three suspects was injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital while the other two were booked into the Livingston County Jail.
