The BHI Integrated Tourniquet Belt was developed based on a simple battlefield truth—medics are not always available when needed. And soldiers suffering from a catastrophic arterial wound may not have a tourniquet at their disposal that can easily be employed by themselves or a partner. The BHI Integrated Tourniquet Belt (ITB) answers both issues.
The ITB functions as a normal duty belt, so it is always available (unlike tourniquets in a medical kit, which can get left behind). It comes in ACU green with khaki webbing on the reverse. Built into the buckle is a hook which fastens around the desired web loop when applying it as a tourniquet. Once this rough adjustment is made, the user can apply tourniquet pressure via the windlass adjustment. When enough pressure is applied to stop arterial bleeding, the T-handle can be secured with the built-in web loop until medical attention arrives.
