Politics
The mayor here should ask the Mayor of Pittsburg if he wished his officers were armed with the tools to do their job.

perish the thought.
goodness. arming police officers?
first we have bad guys armed. now we want to arm officers as well? m-16s are too much. tasers are too much. pepper spray is too much too.

Isn't slang and curse words enough to deter crime?

how dare they try to arm officers so they can better protect the public.

ps. boston violent crime rate per capita is higher than the national average.

Going by that judgement mayor Menino is probably amazed Boston PD went to high capacity autos and went away from wheel guns. Why do officers need to carry a whole box of ammo on them? Silly.

Wow,,
I actually thought Menino was a good guy. I would rather have one officer end a threat with the appropriate equipment than have to call SWAT at all if I could avoid it. Maybe he should stick to politics and let the PD stick to the cop work.

The whole commonwealth is screwed up, first let's replace cops on details with flagmen, next we'll take away all their education incentives by getting rid of the quinn bill, and no we'll deprive them of valuable tools to do their job...makes complete sense to me.

When seconds count, SWAT is only a half hour away (if you are lucky!)

Mayor
This is the same guy that wants a State law for mandatory drug tests for public safety employees. Guess it shows he has NO trust in them. How about a rider on this policy to drug test all elected officials?

IDIOT OF A MAYOR
I know it is hard to believe but the criminals have semi-auto and full auto high powered rifles. So when you have officer's dead in the street because they had to bring a knife to a gun fight due to an idiot Mayor with no police experience.. Good god. I would be leaving Boston PD in a heart beat. God Bless the bleading heart liberal criminal loving politicians of america.

Brothers in blue be safe and god bless.

The number one complaint from "city officials"in regards to more weapons and training is cost. Now you guys have not 20 but 200! free M-16s. What is the excuse now???????

The Mayor of Boston is right. If the Police need a semi auto rifle all they have to do is borrow one from someone on the street. Just another Mayor out of touch with what is going in his own City.
