RICHMOND, Virginia -- A Virginia State Police trooper is being hailed a hero after he used Narcan on a Richmond police officer who fell ill this week.
Trooper A.T. Stuart was at the Richmond City Justice Center Tuesday night when he noticed the officer turn pale and was having difficulty breathing, according to a news release.
Stuart suspected the officer had been exposed to a narcotic while making a drug arrest and quickly administered his department-issued Narcan.
The officer was transported to a local hospital as a precaution and was later released. The Richmond Police Department thanked the trooper in a Facebook post, saying that he likely saved the officer's life.
"Thank you, Trooper Stuart for your quick and heroic action!," the post reads.
The Virginia State Police responded in its own Facebook post, saying that it's thankful Stuart was in the right place at the right time and that the officer will make a full recovery.
