Not anything to do with the subject matter of the article, but how would police officers represented by the teamsters' union keep the peace at a picket line involving striking teamsters?

our jobs
its hard enough to make sure we all go home unharmed but to have to make sure we all go home with a job to come back to is just to much.

Panama City Fl. Considering Outsourcing Law Enforcement
It's so obvious what the suggestion to outsource law enforcement in Panama City during the very first negotiation with the pd really is. It's an attempt to intimidate the union and its members with a veiled threat of job loss.

I'm looking for work when I get of active duty so this is disturbing. I wonder if in FL's case they are just taking Highway Patrol and not the other State angencies as I was looking to apply to a few of them.

On the button, Chief. How obvious can it get?

Contract
I'd question that to be an unfair labor practice, especially when it coincides with contract negotiations.

Sheriff Frank McKeithen is very wise to wait for an official request from the city council for a study. It was also decent of him to note that, "...Panama City has "an excellent police department..."

Abolishing the police dept.
Is that city commissioner out of his mine, to do away with a large department like Panama PD.

Abolishing the Police Dept.
Several agencies I have worked with over the years have either asked the county sheriff's to absorb the town/city police department or totally take over the department. The sheriff's departments have more than enough to do without having to pickup more work. A joint department (metro style) my work better if they would consider that.
