Kudos to Officer Firpo on his first collar!

As far as the suspect goes - You have to be kiddding me! This scumbag has 48 priors and is walking around free to victimize more people? Get a clue New York, put this bastard away for good this time! He obviously cannot get along with the rest of polite society, so do us all a favor and don't let him out again!

Great Job
Great Job Officer Firpo. Sometimes you worry about the new wave style cops coming on the street and the hesitation from worries about litigation. This story is a real bright spot. He saw something, he reacted and made the arrest and he got the scumbag. Nice, Very nice!

This says it all: The man Firpo arrested, Jeffrey Grant, was being charged with robbery. Grant, 47, has 48 previous arrests and was just released last week from Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, N.Y., after serving time for a robbery conviction, police said.

The joys of having a 3 strikes law like here in California (when used) the only thing politically this state has done right in decades.

Rookie in a hurry to start work
Cool story and good for Officer Firpo. As for the scumbag, are you kidding? 48 arrests in 47 years? That's about 1 for every year alive. Similar to an Iowa story where a 30 year old had been arrested more than 70 times. One moron judge tried sentencing him to church. Guess what, that didn't work either. Finally, he went full circle by killing someone w/a vehicle. The latter is finally off of the streets once and for all and it's the above person's time too. Career criminals can not and don't want to be reformed.

Well donet, Officer Firpo. Wishing you continued the very best, in regards to what is the bigger picture: the insight regarding the focus needed on community affairs, while working in LE.
There are underlying problems that need to be addressed when vicious circles are not constructively stopped and instead keep happening. A broken wrist at 79 is big. I am glad he wasn't hurt worse. Great job, on mugger caught without incident, too.
