LONGVIEW, N.C. --

In the Catawba County town of Longview, two police officers fell through a roof. The Longview Chief of Police said one has serious head injuries.

Around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, the officers were investigating a possible burglar at E.L. Hilts Roofing and Equipment Company on Highway 70 southwest.

The chief said it looked like the officers fell through a skylight that had been covered up.

One fell through to the floor and the other hit a stairwell, breaking a banister. One officer used his cell phone to call for help.

Both officers were taken to Frye Regional Medical Center.

The names and conditions of those officers have not yet been released.
