OKLAHOMA CITY
--
Two Oklahoma City police officers rescued a man from his burning apartment early Friday morning.
Firefighters said the blaze started just before 2 a.m. at the Concorde Apartments near I-240 and Western avenue. Two officers on patrol in the area saw smoke billowing from one of the apartment buildings and called for help, authorities said.
The two officers began knocking on doors and evacuating residents. When officers knocked on one apartment door and no one answered, they busted through the door, found a man sleeping and helped him escape from his smoky apartment.
The two officers went to the hospital to be checked out. A second person was taken to the hospital for mild smoke inhalation, but should be alright, authorities said.
Information about what caused the fire was not immediately available.
