The LY Portable Camera/Illuminator, featuring automated license plate reader (ALPR) technology, is now available in a handheld portable configuration, which is ideal for parking violation enforcement, parking facility inventory and a variety of police applications. The camera from Inex/Zamir has greater efficiency and throughput over manual data input solutions and a high-resolution sensor optimized for true day or night license plate recognition. The unit is available in models available for high-speed and distance applications. The LY Portable Camera/Illuminator provides up to 60 progressive scan images per second and delivers quality images necessary for high accuracy ALPR. Each LY unit employs an integral infrared LED light source thereby eliminating the need for any supplemental lighting. The new INEX/ZAMIR handheld portable camera/illuminator (LY) allows the user to capture and read the license plate of passing or stationary vehicles at speeds of up to 120mph. At that point software included with the system will look up the license plate data in an onboard database and alert the officer in under 250 milliseconds. Designed for police use, as well as parking lot inventory and as an on-street parking violation tool, the units are housed in an IP65 case and built in INEX/ZAMIR's ISO9000 facility. With no moving parts, the unit is virtually maintenance free.
Designed to eliminate the need to permanently affix expensive cameras on the roof and processors in the trunk of police vehicles, the LY handheld solution can be easily moved from one car to another. Each system is comprised of the handheld LY camera/illuminator, field-proven InSignia ALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) software, the AMS (Alert Management System) user interface and a Wizard to facilitate loading the vehicle database onto a laptop computer. The LY handheld camera/illuminator simply plugs into the vehicle's 12DC outlet and the USB port of a laptop and is ready to go.
