June 1, 2023

Good morning. Welcome to June.

Twenty-five, 30 or more years ago, Pride Month didn't even exist. Today, we serve and protect in a different world. June 1 marks the beginning of Pride Month, and there are ceremonies in many places recognizing the start of it, raising Pride flags, etc.

For officers who have been serving 25+ years, it may take some adjustment. At the end of the day, remember we're all in the same uniform. We all wear a badge. We all do the same job. The Thin Blue Line family is certainly far more diverse than it was for those who started their careers in the old millennium.

If you don't want to celebrate or support Pride month, celebrate that we continue to grow and evolve, and we do it from within; not due to mere outside pressure.

Take care of our Thin Blue Line family.

Stay safe!

Lt. Frank Borelli (ret)
