August 3, 2023

Good morning. Welcome to August.

From everything you can find in the news, National Night Out was a spectacular success all across the country. Next big event: Schools opening. Yes, I know it doesn't focus on law enforcement and community relations as much as NNO, but there's no reason it can't.

As preschools, elementary schools, middle schools and, yes, even high schools open in your community, consider some extra presence. Don't JUST have your SROs and DARE officers there, but put out some other officers and create some hype. Let's work toward making the first day of school (even though it's different in nearly every jurisdiction) as big of a deal as NNO is.

Stay safe!
