Advanced Public Safety, Inc. (APS) develops targeted, innovative technology solutions specifically designed to address the challenges of today's law enforcement agencies. APS focuses on creating products that operate in conjunction with the mobile computers and handheld devices police officers utilize on patrol. The APS software system (Virtual PartnerTM) works in conjunction with an agency's existing technology to improve the overall productivity, efficiency and safety of officers in the field - APS does NOT require agencies to replace any of its existing technology. All of the APS products are designed, developed, and tested by law enforcement officers - "Built by Cops, for Cops". APS currently works with over 150 agencies in 23 states.

The entries were judged on their innovativeness, productivity, quality, contribution, ease of use and maintainability by a panel of six distinguished law enforcement professionals from a variety of backgrounds. Judges noted they were impressed with the caliber of many of the products they reviewed.
