A domestic disturbance escalated for Oklahoma police last month when an armed suspect used his vehicle to ram cruisers and try to run down officers before he was shot and wounded.

The incident happened at about 8 p.m. Aug. 6 when Oklahoma City police responded to a call in which a man, later identified as Johnny Kemp, pointed a gun at relatives and children, Capt. Ben Weir said in narration included with the release of body camera on other footage from the response. When officers reached the scene, they immediately moved the family members to a safe location and began negotiating with Kemp to in an effort to end the situation peacefully.

Kemp, however, entered his car and began ramming cruisers as he drove on the home's property on purpose, said Weir in the video, which was released Wednesday. In fact, police noted how Kemp allegedly targeted officers and their cruisers with his vehicle instead of immediately trying to flee.
