Officer Down: Lieutenant Michael Boutte

MISSISSIPPI- Lieutenant Michael Boutte was shot and killed in the line of duty on February 1, 2021.  Lt. Boutte responded to an attempted suicide where he was shot and injured as he exited his vehicle. Another deputy who also responded to the call shot the suspect, wounding them. Lt. Boutte was airlifted because of his injuries but later succumbed to them.

Lt. Boutte had been with the Hancock County Sheriff's Office for eight years. Prior to that, he served with the United State Air Force and the Marine Corps (police).
