ILLINOIS-Officer Gary Hibbs of the Chicago Heights PD, suffered a heart attack while arresting a subject early March. Officer Hibbs and other officers responded to a domestic violence situation at an apartment complex on March 4, 2021, when he attempted to place a subject under arrest at that time. The subject resisted and began fighting with the officer.
Officer Hibbs collapsed and was taken to the hospital where he passed away on March 12, 2021.
Officer Hibbs served with the Chicago Heights Police Department for 25 years; his son is also a policeman in another agency.
