June 24--BELLEFONTE -- Jerry Sandusky remained on suicide watch as a precautionary move Saturday night, a county official said.
Sandusky is being held in isolation at the Centre County Correctional Facility in Benner Township while he awaits sentencing on 45 counts of child sex abuse. He was convicted by a jury late Friday night after a two-week trial.
Denise Elbell, the acting administrator of the jail, said Sandusky is being treated like an ordinary inmate.
He's been eating his meals, and when he's in his cell, he hasn't been doing anything other than sitting facing the door or the wall, Elbell said.
Sandusky asked about having visitors, but Elbell said late Saturday he can be seen by his attorney, "but no family at this time."
Sandusky isn't permitted phone calls at this point either, she said. After the verdict was read, Senior Judge John Cleland granted the prosecution's motion to revoke Sandusky's bail.
He had been on house arrest and was required to wear an electronic monitoring device, for which he had paid $2,150 through the end of May.
Sandusky was escorted out of the courtroom by Sheriff Denny Nau and was then taken in handcuffs to the jail.
A crowd in the hundreds that had gathered outside the courthouse erupted in cheers when a reporter announced the verdict.
