Onyx Medical Inc.'s Drape Long Spit Shield, model 18000L, has been designed to protect law enforcement and health care workers from the unwanted transfer of spit, sputum or blood splash. The shield is easy to place over the head, and once in place, the shield is difficult to dislodge. The shield becomes a barrier without creating a claustrophobic environment. Someone wearing the shield retains their field of vision and can breathe easily. There is not a sense of confinement or restriction that can increase unnecessary reactions.
The Drape Long has an 8 inch fluid barrier that extends below the full face shield and hangs to mid chest. The fluid barrier fabric can be tucked inside a shirt, or tee shirt, or left to hang outside over clothing. Hook and loop fasteners attached to the bottom of the barrier fabric hold the fluid fabric in place against the inside of any clothing. Even with no clothing to tuck the fabric into, the fabric hangs down low enough to prevent projectile spitting reaching to law enforcement personnel.
The shield is nonthreatening to the wearer. Air circulates around the fabric to allow easy breathing and helps maintain a calming effect. The clear plastic shield allows law enforcement personnel to directly observe the condition of the wearer at any time.
