Before singer Beyoncé took the stage at the Super Bowl during the halftime show Sunday, many in the law enforcement community were calling for a boycott after the release of a new music video containing anti-police images.
The music video is set in New Orleans and features a wall that reads "stop shooting us" along with images of the on top of a police cruiser sinking in water.
Many people took to social media to express their outrage.
"As the wife of a police officer, I am offended by this entire video," one commenter wrote on Beyoncé's Facebook page. "Rise above and stay above the strife. For a girl who grew up in a privileged, wealthy family, she has no business pandering to those who didn't."
Another commenter wrote: "Beyonce, who is protecting you at the halftime show since you hate cops and white people? Maybe your security detail shoud all stand down and let the criminals protect you! You blast the police and then you call them to protect you. Typical"
