Woman Sought in Hit-and-Run Death of Tennessee Police Officer

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is seeking woman in the hit-and-run death of a rookie Chattanooga police officer over the weekend.
Janet Elaine Hinds, 54, has been added to the TBI's Top Ten Most Wanted list, according to a news release.
She is being sought by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Chattanooga Police Department on a charge of vehicular homicide in connection with the hit-and-run death of Officer Nicholas Galinger.
Galinger, 38, was inspecting a manhole cover that had water flowing from it in the 2900 block of Hamill Road just after 11 p.m. when a vehicle traveling north struck him and fled the scene.
Galinger was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.
The public is being urged to contact the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND with information concerning the whereabouts of Hinds.
