Denton PD officer honored for accomplishments.

DENTON, TX-A routine traffic stop changed the life of Officer Urban Rodriguez on October 29, 2019. Officer Rodriguez was shot in the head and the leg. At the time he had been with the department for 5 years. Since then he has undergone extensive rehabilitation throughout the last year.

Last week an event was held to honor Officer Rodriguez for his service and to honor those who helped find the suspect. Chief Frank Dixon of the Deonton (TX) Police Department says Officer Rodriguez’s accomplishments can’t be easily measured. “As an officer he directly contributed to large drug seizures, he arrested career criminals, and he regularly investigated DWIs in order to prevent injuries and deaths at the hands of drunk drivers,” said Dixon. Additionally, Rodriguez often participated in outreach to the Spanish-speaking community in Denton. “It’s easy to find someone with a story about a time Officer Rodriguez went above and beyond to help someone.”

Dixon says Urban has already battled a life-threatening injury, and his list of accomplishments continues to grow as he fights to recover as he is an inspiration to his whole Denton PD family.
