Officer Down: Deputy Sheriff Logan Fox

NORTH CAROLINA-Deputy Sheriff Logan Fox, of the Watauga County Sheriff's Office, died April 28, 2021. Deputy Fox was responding to a welfare check call after a coworker of the resident requested the check. Deputy Fox, Sergeant Chris Ward, as well as other officers found that all vehicles were at the home in question. Upon entry, someone in the house opened fire, striking the two deputies. Other officers arrived on scene and were able to extract Sergeant Ward from the residence but were unable to get to Deputy Fox. Sergeant Ward was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The suspect barricaded himself in the home, shooting at officers. He later took his own life. Deputy Fox was taken from the scene later on and pronounced deceased.
