NEVADA-Trooper Micah May of the Nevada Department of Public Safety-Nevada Highway Patrol, died July 29, 2021. Trooper May was deploying spike strips on July 28, in order to stop a vehicle that had fled when he was struck by the vehicle. Police officers, probation officers, and troopers had been chasing the car, which was stolen. Trooper May was deploying spike strips when the car hit him and he went through the windshield.
The suspect then reached for Trooper May's firearm. The suspect was fatally shot by other troopers. Trooper May was taken to a nearby medical center where he succumbed to his injuries on July 29, 2021.
Trooper May served with Nevada Highway Patrol for thirteen years and is survived by his wife.
