The San Antonio Police Department is asking the public to heed its holiday safety tips by using one the most iconic movie scenes from the star-studded holiday classic "Love Actually."
In the "Love Actually" scene that SAPD parodied, a police officer plays the role of Mark, a man secretly in love with his best friend's wife, Juliet. In the 2003 film, Mark, played by Andrew Lincoln, shows up at Juliet's doorstep on Christmas Eve, blasting "Silent Night" on a stereo as he confesses his love for her via messages written on poster boards.
In the SAPD video posted on Facebook, the officer shares holiday safety tips on similar presentation boards, spliced with the reactions of Juliet, played by Keira Knightley in the film.
"Nobody wants to be on the naughty list ... or in jail," the signs read. "Nothing ruins holiday cheer like ... a hangover (and) DWI."
The next sign urges the public to arrange for a sober driver, to which Juliet nods approvingly.
The messages continue, asking if people are leaving gifts in their cars.
"Might as well hand them over ... to thieves with a bow," the signs read.
The video was posted Friday, and had more than 65,000 views by Sunday afternoon.
SAPD urges the public to use social media to help others stay safe. "Instead of going door to door, help our officers spread these holiday safety tips by resharing," its Facebook post says.
