Two Police Locals Vote Overwhelmingly in Favor of the International Union of Police Associations to Represent Them
The Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputies Association voted overwhelmingly in favor of the International Union of Police Associations (I.U.P.A.) to represent them on February 20th, 2019. 85% of officers voted in favor of the I.U.P.A. to represent them.
Yesterday, on February 26, 2019, the I.U.P.A. has earned a unanimous vote for the Sarasota County Schools Police Officers Association to join the proud rank and file members that the I.U.P.A. vigorously represents. The vast majority of eligible officers voted and 100% of them cast their ballots for the I.U.P.A. to be their Union.
On these two consecutive victories, President Sam A. Cabral has stated, “The I.U.P.A. has just celebrated our 40thanniversary since signing our charter on February 20, 1979. During the last 40 years, we have been one of the most influential voices for law enforcement in the Political Arena and for the Labor and Law Enforcement Communities. We are pleased to continue to do so for the Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputies Association and to welcome the Sarasota County Schools Police Officers Association into the I.U.P.A. and to represent them as vigorously as we do all of our Members.”
Originally chartered in 1979, the International Union of Police Associations is the only chartered labor union that exclusively represents law enforcement personnel. The more than 100,000 law enforcement personnel represented by the I.U.P.A. are all full time employees of law enforcement agencies ranging from line officers up to first line supervisors as well as civilian employees. The I.U.P.A.’s mission is to protect and advance officers’ wages, benefits, and work conditions. Membership includes officers from agencies throughout the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. More information is available at www.iupa.org.
