Video: Suspect Accused of Setting Fire to Front of LAPD Station

Security camera footage captured a 37-year-old man lighting an object on fire near the front door of the LAPD's Central Division station and then walking away.

A 37-year-old man was accused of setting a fire outside an LAPD station Monday.

The incident happened at about 7:15 a.m. at the department's Central Division station in Los Angeles, according to an agency news release. Security camera footage captured a man—identified as Dimitrios Vlahopouliotis—lighting an object on fire near the station's front door and then walking away.

The front desk officer and Watch Commander responded to the fire, and it was immediately contained. A search of the immediate vicinity by officers located Vlahopouliotis, and he was taken into custody.

Vlahopouliotis was arrested for arson. He also had an outstanding felony warrant.

No one was injured in the incident.
