Suspected Tornado Destroys Fla. Sheriff's Office Building ahead of Milton

"It was completely gone in a matter of seconds," said St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson after an apparent tornado leveled a storage building at the agency's headquarters.

An apparent tornado spawned by Hurricane Milton destroyed a storage building at a Florida sheriff's office headquarters Wednesday.

The destruction happened when a suspected tornado leveled a steel building outside St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office headquarters, Treasure Coast Newspapers reports. The structure housed vehicles and other equipment for the sheriff's office.

"It was completely gone in a matter of seconds," said Sheriff Keith Pearson in a video posted to the agency's Facebook page.

The main headquarters was undamaged by the high winds, which struck hours before Hurricane Milton made landfall. No one was injured in the destruction.

"Don't worry; all of our deputies are safe," said Pearson.
