Institute for Preventive Strategies (IPS)

The Institute for Preventive Strategies provides research, consultation, and educational services in how strategic thinking and strategic choice can contribute to prevention and mitigation of serious threats.

In 2004 the Institute launched a particular focus on the use of preventive strategies in counter-terrorism and other fields related to Homeland Security. The Institute sponsors a program that is designed around the National Strategy for Homeland Security and emerging national metrics and standards for Homeland Security.

The Institute is a national service of the Center for Rural Development, a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Somerset, Kentucky.
