New York State Police Trooper Dies From 9/11-Related Illness

New York State Police Trooper Michael J. Anson died on Jan. 2 from the illness stemming from his assignment at the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.

A New York State Police trooper succumbed to a 9/11-related illness Tuesday.

Trooper Michael J. Anson died on Jan. 2 from the illness stemming from his assignment at the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, according to a news release.

Following the deadly attack, Anson was assigned to New York City to aid in the search and recovery efforts.

The 56-year-old served with the New York State Police for 31 years and served his entire career in Troop G. He also served as an Academy Training Officer at the Basic School for multiple classes from 2012-2017.

Anson is survived by his wife and their three children.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
