WASHINGTON COUNTY, Oregon -- A Washington County patrol deputy was arrested Monday on suspicion of having anabolic steroids while off duty in May.
Bryce Kampwerth, 33, was indicted Friday by a Washington County grand jury on an accusation of possession of a controlled substance.
The charge stemmed from an investigation by the Beaverton Police Department, said Deputy Jeff Talbot, a Sheriff's Office spokesman. Sheriff's officials asked Beaverton police to handle the case after someone contacted them in early December with information about Kampwerth and steroids, Talbot said.
Kampwerth has been placed on paid administrative leave. He has been with the Sheriff's Office since January 2014.
Kampwerth is scheduled to enter a plea and be sentenced Thursday in Washington County Circuit Court, records show. He is a bodybuilder who promotes fitness meal plans online.
Kampwerth is the second Washington County officer arrested on allegations of misconduct in as many weeks.
Cpl. Kevin Kearns was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of third-degree sexual abuse and harassment after being accused of sexually touching a male co-worker.
Neither Kampwerth or Kearns are being held in jail.
