The Smyrna Police Department in Tennessee is using the concept of the lip sync battle challenge that went viral over the summer to support colleagues battling cancer.
The entire department participated in the making of the video, which featured singer Rachel Platten's "Fight Song," according to The Daily News Journal.
"We wanted to have a video that sent a positive message from our department," Capt. Todd Spearman told the newspaper. Spearman led to effort to get the video produced to show support for two officers and the son of a Smyrna firefighter.
"When you first listen to the song's meaning and words ... it just hit us that it would be the perfect song for us to support them to keep fighting and staying strong," Spearman said.
Cpl. Shane Prater has been dealing with colon cancer while Officer Connie Pegram has battled breast cancer. Braxton Harrell, son of Smyrna firefighter Stacy Harrell, has been struggling with brain tumors.
Officers in the video held blue and pink ribbons to symbolize the different cancers represented and held up messages and badge numbers.
So far, the video has been viewed more than 700,000 times and has had over 13,000 shares.
