"First of all, thank you all so much for this award. It’s incredibly humbling to get this kind of recognition so early in my care," she said while accepting the award from Fox Nation host Nancy Grace. "I want to thank all of the officers that I work with, they have truly become my second family whether they are D.C. Fire or EMS they truly bring comfort through all of those tense situations. And just finally, I’d like to dedicate this award to all of the officers that we lost and all of the officers that were injured on Jan. 6. You were called to protect the District and the Capitol and Democracy in a way none of could have ever imagined--you are all true patriots. And I thank you so much.”

Brandt began serving in the Sixth District in August of 2020 after she enrolled in the academy in December of 2019.

Despite her short time as a sworn police officer, Brandt has provided critical medical care on over a dozen incidents, ranging from suicide attempts to multi-victim shootings. Her use of her department's Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) training is credited with helping save nine lives in her district. In April 2021 she received an achievement medal for her part in locating a newborn infant with life threatening injuries resulting from a domestic assault.

Prior to joining Metropolitan Police Department in the District of Columbia, Brandt attended James Madison University and received her BS in Justice Studies with a focus in Crime and Criminology. She is also member of Georgetown University’s Police for Tomorrow Fellowship, a program which examines modern policing issues facing officers and communities alike.

The award was given to Brandt during Fox Nation's third annual Patriot Awards, which honored everyday heroes across the United States who have shown dedication to our nation.

FOX Nation, the subscription video streaming service from FOX News, is now offering a free one-year subscription to active law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics and other first responders.
