With Fraser-Volpe's STEDI-EYE CAM the company's binoculars can also be used as a long range CCD camera with video output for recording and remote viewing. This solution is particularly valuable for military and law enforcement users with changing missions who need both direct view and remote operations at different times. Using Fraser-Volpe's gyroscopic optical stabilization, combined with 14x magification, far objects can be seen clearly, without jitter. In field testing it ws often possible to read license plates beyond 450 meters under normal light conditions. With the STEDI-EYE CAM, it is possible to view the object on a monitor without being exposed; or to recrod the output with a separate video recorder, using standard video formats.
