Catalyst Communications Technologies announced the development of a console subsystem open Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) interface using the Application Interface Specification (AIS) developed by members of the DMR Association for Tier III trunked radio systems.
Catalyst, as a member of the DMR association, assisted with the standards process. The AIS solution offers high-level functionality and enhanced features to DMR users of various manufacturers’ radio systems that comply with the standard.
Catalyst’s IP|AIS Gateway software solution supports digital audio and user control to the Tier III DMR radio system through a single Ethernet interface. Sophisticated dispatch user control and communication is realized through an intuitive Windows based graphical user interface. Catalyst’s flagship solution, IP|Console , provides dispatch for DMR Tier III systems and supports features like Unit ID with alias translation, Texting, Emergency Signaling, Group Calling, Emergency Group Calls, custom graphics for each talk group, roaming for dispatchers, and instant playback. Communication elements including analog and digital, conventional and trunked LMR, SIP telephony, as well as most other types of telecommunication systems can be managed from the same Catalyst console solution.
“This new AIS connectivity expands the choices for the radio community marketplace to select consoles that best satisfy their individual needs. Now, trunked and conventional DMR and P25 systems can be dispatched from a common graphical interface. “This capability can result in tremendous cost savings through the seamless integration of these various technologies from the dispatch console solution,” said Robin Grier, president of Catalyst.
DMR Tier III defines radio trunking operation in the frequency bands from 66 to 960 MHz. The Tier III standard specifies two-slot TDMA in 12.5 kHz channels. Tier III supports voice, status messaging and user short messaging with up to 288 bits of data. It also supports packet data service for both IPv4 and IPv6.
