New Multi-Band Antenna from Laird Turns Public Safety/First Responder Vehicles into True Mobile Operations Centers that Include Readiness for FirstNet/LTE Wireless Networks
Police officers, sheriffs and other first responders are relying on a variety of wireless technologies today to perform their duties, including an increasing number of FirstNet and FirstNet-like LTE-based public safety broadband networks that provide them with a dedicated wireless network to do their jobs safely and efficiently. To take advantage of these LTE networks and the full range of other wireless technologies, counties and municipalities across the country must upgrade their fleet of public safety vehicles with antennas that provide the full range of connectivity, including the ability to work with these LTE-based-wireless networks dedicated to public safety and first responders.
To simplify the process of upgrading these tens of thousands of public safety vehicles nationwide with multiple antennas that transmit and receive information from multiple sources, Laird has recently released a rugged, low-profile antenna called Phantom Fin that is the industry’s most advanced solution for police cars and other public safety fleets. This antenna makes it simple and efficient for counties and municipalities to make this upgrade. The Phantom Fin multi-band antenna immediately converts any vehicle into a mobile operations center that has connectivity with multiple wireless technologies, including the latest FirstNet and FirstNet-like LTE network buildouts. This low-profile antenna allows for the Phantom Fin to be overt and/or discrete if needed. The Phantom Fins multiple antenna function allows for all wireless technology to be in one single unit giving cops and other first responders more confidence that all of their systems will stay not just connected, but better connected.
Laird's new Phantom Fin multiband antenna integrates 3G/4G LTE, UHF, Wi-Fi, GPS, and WLAN frequency operation into one IP67-rated aerodynamic, water-proof housing for highly reliable operation, even in the harshest of environments. With the improved signal radiation of the Phantom Fin police officers and sheriffs will have connectivity even in the most challenging and unexpected environments. The operating temperature ranges on the Phantom Fin anywhere between -22 and 158 degrees Fahrenheit, allowing it to be used in environments across the United States even in the extremes of summer and winter. It eliminates the need for multiple dedicated antenna installations on each vehicle, replacing them with a single antenna that requires only a single installation hole in the roof of a vehicle. By having only a single-hole mount there is a reduction in material and vehicle damage along with installation costs that are dramatically lower than with multiple dedicated antenna installations for differing wireless technologies.
The new Phantom Fin 4-port multiband roof mount antenna provides pattern coverage optimized for mobile wireless requirements at 380-430MHz, 698-960/1710-2700MHz, 2400-2500/4900-5875MHz and 1575.42 MHz(GPS).
