The CriticalPoint DC powered BDA will feature the same industry leading features of the current AC version but allow it to be powered from a 48VDC power source. The DC product will continue to support either single 700MHz or 800MHz bands, or 700/800MHz dual bands, support up to 32 channels per band, and provides 2W power per band. Channelized AGC and Channelized Squelch are also supported, among other notable features. Many public safety codes and AHJ's (Authority Having Jurisdiction) require that a public safety communications system work even in the event of a power failure for a specific period of time, typically 8, 12 or 24 hours. By offering a DC powered version of the CriticalPoint BDA, Comba now provides more flexibility for the system designer, based on the needs of the particular application.
"We are excited to add a DC powered version to our public safety BDA product line," says Don Henry, Comba Telecom's Public Safety Program Manager. "The possibility of utilizing a DC power source, combined with the extremely low (80W single band; 100W dual band) power requirement of the CriticalPoint BDA means the backup battery solution can be physically smaller and less costly to operate." Mr. Henry continued to state.
