The AKHM II was designed in 2009 for the U.S. Army Rapid Equipping Force to enable the use of the Aviators Night Vision Imaging System or ANVIS for Ground Combat Operations. They are constructed from Aircraft Grade Aluminum and a self lubricating very rugged Polymer known as Delrin. This was a departure from the use of original ANVIS Flight helmet mounts designed for use in aircraft cockpits. The AKHM II will install and lock into any standard USGI Kevlar helmet Front (Norotos) Bracket. This product has now evolved into the SOCOM which is much more rugged and uses an onboard microcontroller for S.M.A.R.T: Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology and Optical Stealth for low battery warning.
