TACOMA, Wash. --

A Lakewood police officer suffered minor injuries in a crash during a pursuit of a driver from Lakewood to Tacoma, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The chase began early Thursday when the officer saw a vehicle driven by a man believed to have a parole violation and a felony warrant, a Lakewood police sergeant said.

When the officer tried to pull the car over, the man kept driving with the officer in pursuit.

Police said the officer tried to stop the driver with a PIT maneuver on three occasions but the driver still refused to stop.

As the chase continued, the officer lost control of his cruiser while rounding a corner and crashed into two parked cars.

He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma, where he was treated and released for minor injuries.

Meanwhile, police later found the fleeing man jumping over fence.

Officers tried to stop the man with a K-9, which bit the man, but he continued to flee. Police then caught the man and used a Taser to try to subdue him, but he continued to run from officers.

Finally, an officer tackled the man and police took him into custody.

He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital to be treated for a dog bite.
