Carter County, Tenn. Constable Ross Potter died Friday night from injuries sustained in an Aug. 4 car crash, reports johnsoncitypress.com.
Potter, 81, was driving his department vehicle when he crashed into a light pole off Tenn. Highway 91. The vehicle left the highway, traveled some distance before re-entering the highway, and then crossed all lanes before crossing Blue Springs Road and striking a utility pole head-on, the paper reports.
His civilian passenger, Jeanne B. Leonard, 80, was killed in the wreck.
Potter later died at Johnson City Medical Center where he was being treated for his injuries and for heart complications, the paper reports.
Potter had served as a constable for 29 years, as well as the commander of the Carter County Constables Association since 1991.
Funeral Services were set for 8 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel.
