Bodycam Shows Atlanta Police Officer Struck by Vehicle at Crash

The Atlanta Police Department released scary body camera footage of an officer struck at a crash scene to drive home the importance of Georgia's Move Over Law.

The incident happened Oct. 6 along Interstate 75 as police were investigating an accident, the department stated in a social media post. That's when another vehicle approached as Officer Steven Randerson was outside his cruiser on the shoulder.

The vehicle slid out of the traffic lane and into the shoulder area, hitting Randerson from behind.

Randerson was seriously injured and is still recovering. The driver was cited for traveling too fast for conditions.

"We are grateful that Officer Randerson is in the healing process. This could have ended so much worse," the department stated.

"We remind motorists of Georgia’s Move Over Law which was put in place to avoid exactly this type of thing from happening," the department added.
